Songi Woo Joins USA Archery as National Women's Head Coach

CHULA VISTA, California - USA Archery is pleased to announce that Songi Woo has signed on as USA Archery's National Women's Head Coach. USA Archery announced late last year that the search was open for a women's coach to lead training programs for the women's international and national teams, resident athletes and junior dream teams with a focus on preparing elite female athletes for competitive success at the international level.

Songi coached the very successful women's Mexico team during the London 2012 Olympics where they had women archers win the silver and the bronze medal in individual competition. After 2012, she led development efforts as the ArcheryGB Olympic Performance Coach, and is looking forward to a new challenge for the next quadrennial as part of USA Archery's coaching staff.

Songi has a Bachelor's of Physical Education and Science in the Department of Coaching from Kyunghee University in Korea and holds certifications in archery, physical training, and body building.

USA Archery CEO Denise Parker commented: "Songi has seen great success as a competitive archer and impressed the entire international archery community with the success of the Mexico women's team under her leadership. Songi is known as a team builder and I think our women will be inspired under her leadership. Songi has been highly sought out internationally for several head coach positions and I am thrilled she will be joining our team later this year."

Songi is expected to step into the role at the Easton Archery Center of Excellence in Chula Vista, California later this year after acquiring an employment visa.
