3D Archery Overview

3-D Archery is a form of archery that uses 3D animal targets or target faces for scoring. A 3D course can be set outdoors in the woods or a field or on an indoor range. In 3D competitions, the distance each 3D target is placed at will vary and may be marked, unmarked or a combination of both. A 3D target is a three dimensional, usually life-size, animal target used for scoring in competition and/or to practice for hunting season.

Any USA Archery club may participate in the 3D Achievement Award Program and apply for a sanction to host a 3D archery tournament.

Conservation and Archery

By participating in target archery, you are contributing to the preservation of shooting sports and wildlife restoration thanks to the establishment of the Pittman Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act.

Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act

The Wildlife Restoration Program (Pittman-Robertson PR) is the nation's oldest and most successful wildlife restoration program. For more than 80 years, it has served as a model of conservation partnership among industry, states and territories, and the federal government, protecting and restoring wildlife and the lands they depend on for current and future generations.

Funds from manufacturer taxes on ammunition, firearms, and archery equipment go toward projects to restore, conserve, manage and enhance wild birds and mammals and their habitats. States and territories also use these funds to support natural resources program administration, multi-state conservation grants, recruitment, retention and reactivation of target shooters, outreach and education and the construction and operation of target ranges.
