The Junior Olympic Archery Development Program, we call it JO-AD, is a great place for youth to learn archery year-round, inside and outside, in a safe and fun environment while forming friendships that last a lifetime. Students can enjoy archery recreationally or progress to the excitement of competition. The JOAD Achievement Award Program provides archers a pathway to progress and learn, at their own pace, in a fun, challenging and safe environment.
USA Archery's JOAD Program is for youth as young as 8 years old. Archers learn range safety and proper shooting technique in an environment that fosters increased self-confidence and team-building skills. JOAD develops skills that lead to competitions at the local, state, regional, or national levels or progress into elite training opportunities such as the Regional Elite Development (RED) Program. Archers choose from barebow, basic compound, fixed pins, recurve and compound bow disciplines.
USA Archery's JOAD Achievement Award Program is designed to motivate and challenge members to develop their archery skills through progressive scoring achievements. This flexible program adapts to the club environment and development of individual athletes. The Achievement Award Program is not structured by age; each archer starts at the beginning and progresses through the program at their own pace.
Archers can experience the excitement of a national event and test their skills against archers across the country, from the comfort of the club range in USA Archery's Virtual Tournament, offered year round.
Learn MoreJOAD athletes can continue their archery journey after high school in either a Collegiate or Adult Archery Program. Collegiate Archery Programs can be varsity teams with scholarships, club sports or student organizations on campus. Alternatively, archers can find an Adult Archery Program in their community where they can pursue archery recreationally or compete at the local, state, national or international level.
Archery is a lifetime sport that's adaptable to any ability or skill level. Find a JOAD club that fits the needs and location of your archer.
