World Youth pair among those to medal as Gator Cup opens with mixed team event

NEWBERRY, Fla. – As an appetizer to the main course, a mixed team competition was held on Thursday as part of the 2025 Easton Foundations Gator Cup, which is taking place at the Easton Newberry Archery Center and is the second of four events in the USAT Qualifier Series.

There were four divisions in the mixed team event – 70m recurve for seniors and U21s, 60m recurve for 50+ and U18, 50m compound/fixed pins and 50m barebow.

In a triumph for Texas A&M, two of their archers – Alex Gilliam and Laurel Anderson – won the 70m recurve under the team name We Are Them, defeating Shake and Bake 2, which involved Abigail Kippes and Cameron Senay. Bronze went to BFB, consisting of husband-and-wife team Matt and Savannah Nofel.

Gold in the 60m recurve was won by Clovers, made up of Carson Chan and Ye-eun Whang, who a day earlier were among the 24 who qualified to represent the United States at the World Archery Youth Championships in August. Silver went to MC (Maxwell Hernandez and Chloe Hong), with bronze claimed by Mochiberry (Connor Ong and Sofie Hwang).

One point was the difference in the 50m compound/fixed pins gold medal match, as Sergio Garcia and Lanie Nish – Buenos Aires Baddies – edged out Parker Braddock and Makenna Proctor (Twitter) 155-154. The bronze went to Caleb Quiocho and Khloe Markle under the team name of Silver Pigeon.

The gold medalists in 50m barebow were a little clearer cut, with Beauty and the Beast pairing of Keegan Benton and Ava Jones beating Patrick Fisk and Cindy Czako, who went by the name of BDYD (But Did You Die?), 6-0. Barely on Target duo Brian Way and Medina Otajagic took bronze.

The full set of results from the mixed team competition can be found on BetweenEnds, with photos from the event also available.

Individual competition at the 2025 Easton Foundations Gator Cup begins on Friday morning with qualification rounds for all U18 and U21 divisions. The afternoon will be taken up by official practice for the seniors, 50+ and paras.
