MOKRICE, Slovenia – Two days of qualification rounds at the 2024 World Archery 3D Championships lead us into team elimination matches when competition resumes on Thursday.
The men’s team, consisting of Shiloh Butts, Christian Clark, Archie Nixon and Aaron Shelnutt, will face France, the second seeds, in their quarterfinal contest. The women’s team, which includes Jayme Buchanan, Julie Jones, Katherine Li and Madison Ritter, start at the same stage against Finland in a match-up between the fifth and fourth seeds.
Mixed team competition takes up the afternoon session. The USA has mixed team interest in compound and longbow. Ritter and Clark combine in the compound mixed team to meet Italy, while in the longbow, the USA duo of Buchanan and Butts tackle Denmark.
Individual eliminations start on Friday and go through to the semifinal stage. The USA is well represented in compound, longbow and traditional.
James Todd begins against top seed Nico Wiener (AUT) in the 1/8 round of the compound men. Fellow compound archer Christian Clark faces second seed Joan Pauner (FRA). Madison Ritter is in action in the compound women, with Anais Eymard (FRA) her first opponent.
Butts and Michael Davenport, the fourth and sixth seeds in longbow men, take on Agustin Alejandro Pazos (ARG) and Kristaps Novads (LAT) respectively. Buchanan and Joella Bates will be involved in the longbow women competition. Buchanan faces Paula Virmasalo (FIN), while Bates will battle Iuana Bassi (ITA), the number two seed.
In the traditional women’s opening elimination matches, Julie Jones takes on Federica Valli (SMR), with Stephanie Correa meeting top seed Claudia Weinberger (AUT).
