Record field gathers for the 2024 USA Archery Collegiate 3D Nationals

FOLEY, Ala. – More than 470 student athletes are getting set for the eighth edition of the USA Archery Collegiate 3D Nationals, which will once again be in the grounds of the Graham Creek Nature Preserve, in partnership with the Archery Shooters Association (ASA).

In what will be the largest-ever gathering for this event, almost 30 schools will be represented, among them defending champions the University of the Cumberlands. They have won the overall title since 2018, the first year they entered.

Texas A&M University will have familiar faces among their team, including Catalina GNoriega, Trenton Cowles, Alex Gilliam and Carson Krahe. GNoriega is a freshman and arrives in Foley as an Olympian having competed in the 2024 Paris Games. Cowles and Krahe both represented the USA at World Cup stages in 2024. Both also won at this year’s Rebel Gear Buckeye Classic. Cowles defeated Gilliam in the gold medal match.

Another freshman will be Landyn Cox. He is following in his sister Madison’s footsteps in opting for the University of the Cumberlands. Cox was part of the compound U18 men’s team which won bronze at last year’s World Archery Youth Championships in Ireland.

There will be a number of siblings competing on the same team. William Carey University, though, has two sets of siblings on their team, including 18-year-old twins Allison and Samantha Roberts, as well as older sister Jordan. And then there are sisters Emmie and Ellie Purcell in the colors of the Crusaders. Allison and Samantha are not the only set of twins in Foley this week. Lizabeth and Lara Renner are part of the Kentucky Christian University team.

Of the nearly 30 schools in attendance, at least one will be there for the very first time. The University of Rio Grande began their collegiate archery program this year, with the USA’s Paralympic coach, Jonathan Clemins, named their head coach back in March.

University of the Cumberlands will travel with more than 50 archers on their team. Other schools with sizable rosters include Lindsey Wilson College, University of Pikeville, William Carey University and Campbellsville University.

Competition begins on Thursday afternoon with a 10 Target Team Shoot Mixer. Friday’s schedule involves two rounds of competition. There is an Individual Class Shoot-Down on Saturday morning, to be followed by Team Rounds in the afternoon. Archers then step away from the Graham Creek Nature Preserve to the Foley Event Center where the lively Mixed Equipment Team Rounds take place on Saturday night.

You can follow along here with the live scores and results from the 2024 USA Archery Collegiate 3D Nationals. There will be photos each day from the event, plus the mixed equipment team competition will be broadcast live on Saturday from 6.30pm CT, with coverage on USA Archery’s YouTube channel.
