YANKTON, S.D. – Following two days of competition at the USA Archery Field Nationals, the U.S. Team Trials nominated teams for the 2022 World Archery Field Championships in Yankton, S.D. this fall and the recurve and barebow teams for the World Games in Birmingham, Ala. this July. After two days of cumulative scoring at unmarked and marked targets, archers in the Trials were cut to the top eight per division and then competed at eight marked targets before a cut to the top four and another four competition targets to select teams for these prestigious events. Review selection procedures for more detail.
For the World Games, July 7-17, an anticipated 3,600 athletes representing over 100 countries will be in attendance. The World Games, held only every four years, primarily showcases sports and disciplines not featured in the Olympic and Paralympic Games; the archery competition welcomes compound target archers and recurve and barebow field archers.Tickets are available for purchase for those interested in attending. Archery fans are highly encouraged to come cheer for Team USA on home soil at this exciting and important event as we showcase our athletes and our sport to the world.
As the host nation, USA Archery was allocated one spot each for the recurve and barebow men and women, and earned an additional recurve men's quota spot at the World Archery European Field Championships in Croatia. With space for only 12 athletes per division, competition for these highly coveted spots was contentious.

The World Archery Field Championships will take place at the same venue in Yankton on Oct. 3-9, 2022, rescheduled from their original 2020 dates. Team USA has a longstanding history of success at this event, which features a unique team competition that pairs recurve, compound and barebow shooters of the same gender. The Trials course proved to be an extraordinary challenge and archery fans should look forward to a spectacular event this fall; perhaps with a special edge for the U.S. archers who have now experienced some of the course and will compete on home soil. The USA lineup includes multiple world field champions and medalists and we should make a strong showing in Oct.
