Our first national event of the season is in the books and we’re thrilled to share it was a smooth, safe and successful event. Despite some challenging weather, the 136th USA Archery Target Nationals and U.S. Open was held in Richmond, VA this past weekend, and we were so happy to see archers together on the field again. Please read on for some important announcements regarding national events.
USA Archery Target Nationals – Safety Precautions
USA Archery would like to thank the archers, parents and coaches for making it possible for us to hold Target Nationals. Thanks to great adherence to local and state health and safety guidelines, we will be able to continue to hold events this year.
We are so grateful to spectators for staying in their access areas, to archers for social distancing while shooting and under the tents between ends, and to the staff, judges and field crew who helped keep things running smoothly. We had 100% compliance with daily temperature checks and health safety surveys, saw lots of attendees wearing masks when possible, and we thank all event participants and attendees again for coming out and making this happen! We hope to see you all at more events this year.
Buckeye Classic (August 28-30; Dublin, OH)
Buckeye Classic registration is open through FRIDAY, August 21. We currently have over 250 archers registered and hope you’ll be there too!
The safety precautions from Target Nationals will be in place for Buckeye Classic. Archers will be spaced to two archers per target, shooting one archer per line. Archers will be socially distanced under the tents and masks are encouraged when not shooting or when in any public indoor space.
There will be a separate, non-tented area for support personnel (coach, parent, guardian or spectator). All support personnel should bring their own seating and water. Water bottles will be provided for archers, but archers should plan to supply their own ice/coolers.
Everyone who enters the venue will be responsible for compliance with a daily health survey and temperature check.
Arizona Cup – CANCELLED
The Arizona Cup, scheduled for October 23-25, is cancelled. State regulations currently only allow gatherings of 50 people and there is no indication that number will change in the near future. Arizona is also not currently allowing portable toilets. The event organizers, considering these factors, have decided to cancel the event and will follow up shortly with event participants regarding refunds.
SoCal Showdown (October 2-4; Chula Vista, CA)
Registration is open! We will have a better idea of the status of this event next week. Stay tuned for more information.
Gator Cup (November 6-8; Newberry, FL)
Registration is open! All signs look good for this event to go on as planned.
