Santiago, Chile – Team USA Archery had a great start to the 2022 Pan Am and Para Pan Am Championships taking place in Santiago, Chile. USA Barebow Men’s Team consisting of Marcus Cooley, Rick Stonebraker and Matt Yacca are the new World Record Barebow Men’s Team. The USA men qualified 1st with a whopping 184 points over Argentina.
Not only that, USA Barebow Men captured 4 out of the top 6 qualification rankings: Matt Yacca leads with the number 1 ranking shooting a 623, Rick Stonebraker takes 2nd, Marcus Cooley secured 3rd, and Jarrett Kellan ranked 6th.
Matt Yacca commented, “This is a true blessing for me. As a self-funded tournament, it would have been impossible without the help of donations from friends and family. So, I see this as literally a once in a lifetime event. I am fortunate and feel blessed to be here.”
But that’s not all, Barebow Women swept qualification rankings with Christina Lyons, Fawn Girard, Maggie Brensinger, and Susan Snider securing ranks 1 through 4, respectively. Not to be outdone by the Barebow Men’s Team, the Barebow Women’s Team qualified 1st with 208 points ahead of Brazil.
USA’s Barebow Mixed Team of Matt Yacca and Christina Lyon’s, head into the mixed team competition with a number 1 ranking as well.
James Lutz ranked number 1 for Compound Men shooting a 709. Nick Kappers follows in 2nd, Sawyer Sullivan took 8th, and Tate Morgan ranked 21st. Women’s Compound saw Paige Pearce rank 5th with a 702, Cassidy Cox in 9th with a 693 followed by Alexis Ruiz in 10th with 692 and Madison Cox in 26th with a 671. USA’s Men’s Compound Team will head into the team competition ranked 1st and our Compound Women’s Team ranked 3rd. Our Compound Mixed team of Lutz and Pearce ranked 2nd behind top qualifier Colombia.
Casey Kaufhold ranked number 1 in Recurve Women, shooting a 662, a 21-point advantage over Cuban archer Elizabeth Rodriguez. Teammate Jennifer Mucino-Fernandez easily took 3rd and Savannah Vanderwier and Catalina Gnoriega ranked 13th and 14th, respectively. Our USA Recurve Women’s Team qualified 1st, 35 points ahead of the Mexican Women’s team.
Recurve Men saw U.S. Matthew Requa rank 9th shooting a 658, Jack Williams 14th with a 654, Joonsuh Oh with a 652 for 16th and Jackson Mirich 24th with a 642. Our USA Recurve Men sit qualified 4th for the team competition.
Team USA’s Recurve Mixed Team of Casey Kaufhold and Matt Requa qualified 2nd even though they tied Mexico’s team with 1320’s, but the tie was broken using the number of 10’s each team shot.
