NOVE MESTO, Czech Republic - Ten USA archers, including those set for the 2024 Paralympic Games and one Paralympic gold medalist, are in the Czech Republic for the Para-Archery World Ranking Event in Nové Mesto.
For 15-year-old Jordan White, this marks his first trip outside of the United States and comes just under two months until he represents the USA at the Paralympic Games in Paris. He will compete in the recurve open men’s division this week, as will Eric Bennett. Both will use this as preparation for the Paralympics, which will be a fifth for Bennett and a first for White.
Kevin Mather and Michael Lukow will complete the recurve open men team for the USA. Mather won gold for the USA at the Tokyo Games three years ago. Lukow was a member of the Paralympic team in Rio eight years ago.
Also in the Czech Republic for this event is Jason Tabansky, competing in W1 men. There are two archers in the compound open men’s category, with David Cunningham joined by Ben Thompson. Recurve open women are well represented, with Candice Caesar and Karen Sternfeld on the trip, while Wendy Gardner will contest the compound open women.
Official practice takes place on Monday. Qualification rounds get underway on Tuesday. You can follow all the latest scores and results from Nové Mesto, with the event running until Saturday.
