YANKTON, S.D. - Team USA fans, rejoice: the next World Archery Youth Championships will be held right here in the United States, at the Easton Yankton Archery Center. The state-of-the-art archery facility was awarded the bid by the World Archery Executive Board.
The National Field Archery Association Foundation, which submitted the bid, will host the World Archery Youth Championships from June 8-14, 2015. An estimated 600 competitors from 60 countries are expected at the event, supported by a similar number of team management and family members. The tournament schedule will include an official practice period, three days of qualification and eliminations - and two days of finals.
"USA Archery congratulates the National Field Archery Association Foundation on their successful bid, and we're excited that Team USA will have the home court advantage at the 2015 World Archery Youth Championships," commented USA Archery CEO Denise Parker. "This is a great advantage for our team members, whose travel and adjustment to the venue will be minimal - and affords families the potential opportunity to see their athletes compete. The National Field Archery Association, and their President Bruce Cull, is a great partner with USA Archery from programs at the grassroots level all the way up to the elite levels. We are excited about this opportunity." "
World Archery Events Director and 1992 Olympic gold medallist Juan-Carlos Holgado was impressed by the venue. "This is a fantastic facility, fit for an international event," noted Holgado. "It's one of the best archery centers I've seen, and the two outdoor Olympic archery ranges mean it's got the capacity to welcome the high number of young archers that compete at the youth world championships."
The NFAA Easton Archery Center in Yankton was one of the first Easton Centers to be built, and is a Partner Center for the Easton Foundations as well as home to the National Field Archery Association headquarters.
National Field Archery Association President Bruce Cull said: "As the home of the NFAA, Yankton is a centerpiece for archery in the United States. By bringing the young generation of international archers to the Center, we not only have the chance to give them a great event but display our world-class venue and City to competitors from around the globe."
