SÃO PAULO, Brazil – In a repeat of the gold medal match from two years ago, defending W1 men’s champion Jason Tabansky once again defeated Helcio Luiz Jaime Gomes Perilo (BRA) – this time at the semifinal stage – to keep alive hopes of retaining his Para Pan American Championships title.
Tabansky won 135-125 and will meet the bronze medalist from 2022, Eugenio Santana Franco (BRA), in Saturday’s gold medal match. That match will follow the W1 women's final, which involves Tracy Otto against Juliana Cristin Ferreira Da Silva (BRA).
Otto and Tabansky are in a gold medal match on Friday. They take on the winners of Brazil versus Chile in the W1 mixed team. The Brazil team is made up of Santana Franco and Ferreira Da Silva.
The W1 medal matches will be followed by the compound men open doubles competition. The USA pairing of Robert Griffith and Nicholas Peacock meet top seeds Mexico in the semifinal. The other semifinal involves Canada and Brazil.
Individual elimination matches took place on Thursday. Peacock finished sixth in compound men open, while Karen Sternfeld and Candice Caesar were placed seventh and eighth respectively in recurve women open.
