COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – USA Archery is proud to congratulate the 2020 Collegiate All-Around Archers of the Year. This prestigious award is presented to one athlete in each division to celebrate the highest cumulative placement from the season’s collegiate national events.
For 2020, the Collegiate All-Around Archer of the Year is calculated by taking archers’ ranks from 2019 National 3D Collegiate Championships and 2020 Indoor Nationals and adding each together (i.e. if I placed 1st and 4th respectively, that archer’s points for the award would be 5). The male and female archer from each division with the lowest point total will be awarded the Collegiate All-Around Archer of the Year. In 2021, the award will revert to the standard calculation.
Barebow Archer of the Year Katie Karr from the University of Pikeville shared: “It means everything in the world to me that all of my hard work has finally paid off. I couldn’t have done this without my coach, Shane Hurt, who has pushed me to be the archer I am today. I would like to thank all of my family and friends for their support. Thank you, USA archery, for giving me this wonderful opportunity, and I am very blessed to have received this award!”
Bowhunter Archer of the Year Morgan Vaughn, Union College was also ecstatic: “winning this award? It truly means everything. It’s a dream that everyone wants: to be successful at what they’re passionate about.” Vaughn started in NASP and made the switch to the bowhunter division in college: “Coach Kirby helped lay the foundation for me and got me where I am today. With this being my last and final season in college, I truly wanted to bring it all. For 3 years I knew what I was capable of and just always came up short. So, to finally break out of that slump and perform the way I knew I could this year as a senior, it’s bittersweet. Also means a lot because it shows that all the coaches, family, and friends that helped support me that it wasn’t for nothing. They’re the ones who got me here.”
Plaques for All-Around Archer of the Year will be mailed to archers when USA Archery’s National Office reopens.
