USA Archery Announces Updates to 2021 United States Archery Team Qualification Procedures

USA Archery has posted important updates to the 2021 United States Archery Team Qualification Procedures. These updates detail amendments to the qualification procedures should one or more 2020 USAT series events be canceled because of COVID-19. In the face of this unprecedented global pandemic, USA Archery has made these changes with input from the Athlete and Para Athlete Advisory Councils, member feedback, and with support of the Board of Directors.

Below is a summary of changes to the USAT Qualification Procedures:

Senior USAT

Attendance at the 2020 USA Archery Target Nationals and U.S. Open is not mandatory for the National Ranking System (NRS) or 2021 USAT selection. Archers will need to attend a minimum of 4 USAT Series events as a senior to be eligible for the 2021 Senior USAT.

As a precautionary measure, if there are only 3 or 4 USAT Series events in 2020, the number of required events lowers to 3 events. If 2 or fewer events are held in 2020, the 2021 Senior USAT will be based on the NRS as of 12/31/19.

Junior/Cadet USAT

Attendance at the 2020 USA Archery JOAD Target Nationals is not a mandatory for 2021 Junior/Cadet USAT selection. Archers will need to attend a minimum of 3 USAT Series events as a Junior/Cadet to be eligible for the 2021 Junior/Cadet USAT.

As a precautionary measure, if 2 or fewer USAT series events are held in 2020, the 2021 Junior and Cadet USATs will be based on USAT ranking as of 12/31/19. If an archer no longer meets the age criteria, of the team which they were originally eligible for, the archer will no longer be eligible for that USAT.

Para USAT

Because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2020 Para USAT is frozen as of 12/31/19. Archers cannot earn Para USAT rank in 2020.

Master USAT

Attendance at the 2020 USA Archery Target Nationals and U.S. Open are not mandatory for 2021 USAT selection. Archers will need to attend a minimum of 3 USAT Series events as a Master to be eligible for the 2021 Master USAT.

As a precautionary measure, if 2 or fewer USAT series events are held in 2020, the 2021 Master USAT will be based on Master USAT ranking as of 12/31/19.

Barebow USAT

Of the three required events: Indoor Nationals, Field Nationals, and JOAD Target Nationals or Target Nationals and U.S. Open , if any one event is not conducted in a given year, the Barebow USAT will be named using the two events that were conducted in the given year, and the results of the missing event from the year prior (i.e. if the Field Nationals are not conducted in a given year, Barebow USAT will be named from the given year’s Indoor Nationals and JOAD Target Nationals or Target Nationals and U.S. Open (as applicable), and the prior year’s Field Nationals.)

If less than two Barebow USAT events are held in any given year, the Barebow USAT will be selected from the final Barebow USAT rank as of 12/31 of the previous year.

If the Cadet or Junior Barebow USAT is selected based on 12/31 of the previous year and an archer no longer meets the Cadet or Junior Barebow USAT age criteria for the team for which they were originally a part of, the archer will no longer be eligible for Barebow USAT.
