USA Archery Accepting Guest Applications for 2023 Regional Elite Program Camps

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Archery’s Regional Elite Program is designed to develop recurve, compound and barebow and Para athletes, ages 13-18 through the USA Archery Athlete Development Competencies and High-Performance Ethos, who desire to be nationally and internationally competitive. The program includes at minimum, two self-funded regional camps per year, which are 2-4 days in length.

The application for the 2023 Regional Elite Program has closed, however athletes who did not achieve the required minimum qualifying score or did not participate at the most recent JOAD Target Nationals are eligible to try out for the Program at the first regional camp of the year!

Please see the camp schedule below for the first camps scheduled in each region for 2023:

  • North: April 7 – 9, NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center: Yankton, SD
  • East: April 22-23, Bull Run Park: Centreville, VA
  • West: April 29-30, Ben Avery Shooting Facility: Phoenix, AZ

In addition, guest applications are accepted for camp participation throughout the year. To view the 2023 camp schedule, click here.

The purpose of the program is to provide athletes an opportunity to develop within a camp environment and put them on a path to grow within USA Archery’s high performance pipeline. Camps are designed to introduce athletes to unique learning activities and to build upon what they are already working on at home.

Program coaches work with parents and personal coaches to understand the needs of each athlete. Coordination and communication between Program coaches and personal coaches is key to athlete development. East Region Head Coach Kyle Bissell shared, “Personal coaches provide the continuity and stability needed for athletes to effectively process, continue to explore, and integrate discoveries made while attending Regional Elite camps.” Personal coaches are encouraged to attend these camps and can register by searching for Coach Observer Coaches here.

Christian Stoddard, current USA Archery Resident Athlete shared, “The Regional Elite Program gave me exposure to high-level archery and started my journey toward training to make an Olympic team. It was the first time I benefited from access to multiple coaches, each providing helpful new perspectives on shooting, especially my Regional Elite Program coach, Judi Adams. The camps were always well run, incorporating archery and team activities that introduced me to some of my closest archery friends!”

USA Archery invites athletes who are interested in trying out for the 2023 Regional Elite Program or who would like to attend a camp as a guest to complete the Regional Elite Program Guest Application. Applications should be submitted no later than seven business days prior to the start date of the camp. Athletes in the South and Southeast regions who are interested in trying out should contact [email protected] directly.

Archers trying out will need to achieve the Minimum Qualifying Score outlined in the High Performance Program Guide.
