TERNI, Italy - Today concluded the team rounds here at the 2022 Rinehart World Archery 3D Championships. Both our men’s and women’s teams qualified 4th after qualifications and secured their position in the quarter-finals. After a change in venue due to flooding from heavy rain storms overnight, our teams traveled to the Archery Training Center in Terni, Italy to shoot their matches this afternoon.
Team rounds consist of the highest qualified archer from 3 divisions and a coach. One compound, one barebow, and the highest qualified archer between the traditional and longbow divisions. The team has 2 minutes to shoot 3 arrows (one arrow per archer), into the target at an unmarked distance, at their respective shooting stakes.
Our men’s team consisted of Landyn Cox from compound, Daniel Colloms from barebow, Shiloh Butts from longbow, and 2017 team gold medalist Calvin Smock as their coach. The team shot the second highest score, in the highest scoring round, on the entire field today. In the end, they fell just one point short of Spain in the quarter-finals losing 124-123.
The women’s team consisted of Gracelyn Chambers from compound, Fawn Girard from barebow, Joella Bates from longbow, and Coach Dee Falks. The ladies had a tough match in the quarter-finals as well. Denmark took the win 110-97 and went on to win the team gold.
