COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – USA Archery’s Spring 2019 Virtual Tournament introduced a new award for Virtual Tournament Club Champion. The Virtual Tournament series, designed to help archers experience the excitement of a national event and test their skills against archers across the country, allows them to compete the ease of their local archery range.
The new overall club champions are decided by archer ranks in all individual and team divisions. Points are awarded for individual and team competition. Results have been tabulated and USA Archery is proud to announce the winner of the Spring Virtual Tournament: Wasting Arrows of Reno, Nevada. The club was awarded a $200 gift certificate to the USA Archery Apparel shop.
Wasting Arrows Club Leader and USA Archery Nevada State Coordinator Lystra Pitts shared: “We always enjoy participating in the Virtual Tournaments because it gives our new archers a chance to experience a tournament situation without the pressure and intimidation of shooting in a bigger shoot. They get to compete with friends, learn the rules of the game, etiquette, and sportsmanship. For our more experienced athletes the Virtual Tournament is a great way for them to see where they are stacking up at the national level. I’ve had several archers decide to take the plunge and sign up for National and USAT events after having good results in the Virtual Tournament. It’s a fun format and everyone gets something different out of it, but the end of the day it’s a great way for us to participate as a club and have a great time.”
The Summer Virtual Tournament is now running and teams are once again invited to submit their scores to try to top Wasting Arrows as Virtual Club Champion. The team portion of the event is FREE for participating clubs.
This quarter begins the preliminary stages of the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials, 25 Virtual Tournament participants will be drawn at random to win a USA Archery Tokyo 2020 Olympic or Paralympic Pin!
