Are you interested in taking your athletes, clubs and abilities to the next level? USA Archery is proud to bring you leading experts to this year’s National Symposium, a conference designed for coaches, athletes, parents and club leaders. The Symposium will be held at the Hyatt Regency Houston Intercontinental Airport, Houston, Texas on October 18-20, 2019.
A top industry speaker is Chris Webster, the Research and Development Technician for Hoyt Archery. Webster will share information on the latest Hoyt equipment with an introduction to the 2020 Hoyt releases. With over three decades of experience, including participation in the World Class Athlete Program (WCAP) as a U.S. Army Athlete and as a past member of USA Archery’s Resident Athlete Program, Webster will address equipment from an athlete and coach point of view. Webster is a Level 4-NTS Coach, the head coach for the West Region of USA Archery’s Regional Elite Development (RED) Program and has served as U.S. International Team Staff.
Another leading expert, Derek T.Y. Mann, Ph.D, will talk about Emotional Intelligence and why it’s important and how you can utilize it to benefit performance. Mann will walk participants through activities to get them on the path to improving their Emotional Intelligence skills. Mann is an international consultant and Managing Partner of the Performance Psychology Group, LLC, an organization dedicated to helping individuals and organizations across corporate, sport, military, and medical sectors thrive.
As Assistant Professor at Jacksonville University, Mann studies the relationship between emotion and attention and performance under pressure. He connects the latest in personality and emotional intelligence research with psychological skills training to help individuals and teams develop an awareness along with the requisite psychological skills to maximize their potential.
In addition to breakout sessions from speakers like Webster and Mann, Symposium attendees will have ample time to network and discuss challenges they face in their day-to-day coaching, training and management during social hours. Raffle prizes will be announced throughout the conference with prizes from T.R.U. Ball®/AXCEL® Archery, Easton Archery, Hoyt, Vortex Optics, Teach Like a Champion, and more.
