COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Changes they are a coming for USA Archery events in 2024, albeit for certain disciplines and specific age groups and following decisions made at the 2023 World Archery Congress.
It was determined that the U15 age division be adopted as an official age class. As way of aligning with World Archery, USA Archery will adopt the distance and target sizes for outdoor events for the U15 age class in the barebow, compound, and recurve divisions.
Compound U15 will shoot an 80cm 6-ring target at 40m, as will fixed pins. Previously, both shot at 30m. Recurve U15 will shoot a 122cm target at 40m, down from 50m. Barebow U15 will continue to shoot a 122cm target at 30m.
To align with the changes to the compound and fixed pins divisions, USA Archery – in consultation with the JOAD Advisory Council – has elected to adopt updated distances for U13 compound and fixed pins divisions. These categories will now shoot an 80cm 6-ring target at 30m at outdoor events.
