COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Planning college visits this winter? Learn about USA Archery’s Collegiate Archery Program to make the most of your college experience.
USA Archery's Collegiate Archery Program is for students enrolled in a college or university. Eligible participants can enjoy the sport recreationally or actively prepare for local, regional, national, and international collegiate archery events.
For archers currently participating in a USA Archery Youth Club, the Junior Olympic Archery Development program and local and state tournaments, the Collegiate Archery Program is a fantastic next step in your archery journey and allows participants to continue this lifetime sport.
Nationwide, many institutions offer on-campus archery programs as a varsity sport, official university club, or student organization. Students can learn which college programs are available using our Find A Club resource. The tool will enable individuals to search by state or zip code to locate a college program near you and will also show if the program offers scholarships.
USA Archery also offers opportunities for archers to compete individually in the Collegiate Archery Program. If a school does not have a team, USA Archery provides a pathway for archers to continue their archery journey in college.
Riley Marx (above right), winner of the 2023 Collegiate 3D Nationals Women’s Recurve Division, and current member of the Texas A&M archery team said of her college experience, “Collegiate tournaments are my favorite. Everyone is screaming for their school, dressing up and simply having a great time.
“The environment is truly like no other tournament. My favorite part of these tournaments is not even the shooting, it is getting to travel with my teammates. We goof off on the long drives to the tournaments, play games at dinner, and watch movies at night.”
The Collegiate Archery Program offers barebow, recurve, compound, and fixed pins divisions and provides students the opportunity to travel and compete. Students can compete in USA Archery’s exciting collegiate events, as well as any USA Archery local, state, national or virtual sanctioned tournaments. USA Archery is also responsible for nominating archers to the U.S. team for the biennial World University Games.
Athletes can work to develop fundamental skills, compete for individual and national team championships, and earn Academic and All-American awards. Collegiate Archery Programs can be offered as varsity teams with scholarships, club sports, or on-campus student organizations.
Archery provides students a community that fosters friendships that can last a lifetime. This experience helps with the stresses and pressures of rigorous academic pursuits, providing college students a supporting community and personal growth.
