COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - As the weather is beginning to warm and indoor season is wrapping up, the 2018 Outdoor State Championships season is about to begin!
State Championships are fun, annual events that can be a great warm-up for National Events or a perfect first tournament for beginner archers looking to start competition. USA Archery is happy to see continued growth in State Championship participation and increased efforts at the state level to build local competition opportunities.
Tom Stevenson, who works with USA Archery-Oklahoma (Oklahoma's USA Archery State Association), led significant efforts to bring National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) archers to USA Archery's Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) State Championships by hosting booths at regional state championships throughout Oklahoma. While the NASP events were held just days before the JOAD state championship, Oklahoma saw a 50% increase in participation with great continuity from the previous year, and is excited to see the payoff of increased and continued efforts to cross promote with the local NASP archers.
USA Archery keeps an up to date list of all State Championship events here and will continue to add events as sanction requests are received.
If your state, or a state near you does not yet have an event listed, contact your state association for more information. If your state does not have a state association, do not worry, USA Archery can help the clubs in your state organize a state championship!
