USA Archery Congratulates New U.S. World Archery Americas Committee Members

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - Following the Pan American and Para Pan American Championships in Medellin, Colombia last month, World Archery Americas (WAA) announced recent council and committee election results. USA Archery is proud to congratulate several dedicated U.S. individuals who have been elected to serve upcoming terms.

Phil Graves was re-elected to the Development Committee through 2022 and will serve as Chair of the committee. Graves, who has served on the committee since 2014, has since developed a Coach Certification and Assessment procedure that has become mandatory throughout WAA, led many coaching seminars throughout the Americas and helped create the Carribean Championships.

Graves previously shared with USA Archery: "I am very happy and motivated to be involved with WAA in developing archery in areas where there is an interest. It's very gratifying to go to an international event and see the new archers competing. What is even nicer for me, is to revisit a country who has received the equipment and training, and see kids and adult programs very active and enthusiastic. The growth of archery is truly a global experience, and we should be leading the way in assisting the development."

United States Para Archery Team member Martha Chavez was elected to the Athlete's Committee for a four-year term and will serve with Chair, Olympian Aida Roman of Mexico and El Salvador's Roberto Hernandez. On her recent election, Chavez commented: "I'm honored to help build a legacy of leadership and inclusion for Para Athletes across the Americas. I'm committed to growing the sport for future generations and supporting the Para Team's Strategic plan by #stepping up, #reachingout and #leadingbyexample."

USA's Alison Pope-Rhodius was also elected to serve a four-year term on the Medical and Sports Sciences Committee. Pope-Rhodius has made significant contributions to the sport and our athletes in sports psychology and mental performance.

World Archery Americas Secretary General Sergio Font shared: "We welcome our new Council and Committee Members and invite them to contribute their time and efforts to further develop archery in the Americas."
