COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - USA Archery's Achievement Award Program is designed to celebrate the accomplishments of archers of all ages and abilities as they progress in the sport from the most beginner to incredibly advanced levels of success. The JOAD Olympian and Adult Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards mark the highest of those achievements and USA Archery is proud to congratulate the following archers on their achievements in the first quarter of 2018.
In addition to a certificate and pin, Bronze JOAD Olympian awards are recognized with a backpack, Silver JOAD Olympian awards are recognized with a lightweight jacket, and Gold JOAD Olympian awards are recognized with a belt buckle.
Archers wishing to shoot for these awards must be current youth, adult, or family members of USA Archery and part of a registered USA Archery JOAD or Adult club.
The awards are part of the USA Archery Achievement Program, which provides achievement award pins for progressive scoring achievements, and encourages youth and adult archers to set and achieve goals in the sport of archery.
Matthew Nofel, who is the newest addition to the Resident Athlete Program, recently earned his bronze, silver and gold outdoor Adult Achievement Awards. Nofel shared: "JOAD is where I got my start in competitive shooting. I was recommended to JOAD by my first coach, who thought I would do well with a team. I enjoyed chasing the pins, and as I became more committed to the sport, it was still exciting to try and achieve the highest pins. I was able to shoot my indoor and outdoor junior gold pins as a cadet, and now as a junior shooting up into the Senior division, I am still pushed to achieve the awards. This winter I'll be trying for my indoor gold."
Nofel added: "The pins still hold a lot of meaning to me, because they remind me of where I come from, and because they are a lot of fun. As well as still providing a challenge despite the level I am training to compete at. I still wear the lanyards on my quiver. I am very supportive of JOAD, as it is the pipeline that worked for me to chase my dreams of the Olympics, and I enjoyed and continue to enjoy working towards my achievement pins."
