COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - With the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games drawing close, USA Archery has announced its event schedule for an action-packed 2015 outdoor season.
Three U.S. Archery Team (USAT) Qualifier Series Events are currently scheduled, along with the U.S. National Outdoor Collegiate Championships and the U.S. National Target Championships, U.S. Open and Easton JOAD Nationals. Click here to learn more about the different types of national events.
The dates for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Archery - First Nomination Shoot will be confirmed by December 12, as will the dates for the fourth USAT Qualifier Series Event for 2015.
Team Trials events, which will select teams for various international competitions, have been added to each USAT Qualifier Series Event in order to help reduce travel and expenses for competing athletes.
The Team Trials for the World Archery Championships will be divided into two Team Trials events for both recurve and compound archers. Recurvers will contest team spots at the Arizona Cup and at the Gator Cup, while compound archers will try for the team at the Gator Cup and SoCal Showdown.
The Team Trials for the World Archery Youth Championships will also be held in conjunction with the Easton Foundations Gator Cup, while the Team Trials for the World Archery Para Championships will be contested at the SoCal Showdown.
2015 will also be a big year for Team USA archery fans. Four World Cups, three World Championship events, a World Cup Final, the Pan American and Parapan American Games, and the Olympic Test Event will all be contested in addition to domestic events. The United States will also begin the process of qualifying to compete at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
