Colorado Springs, CO - USA Archery has announced the winners of the fourth-quarter Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) Mail-In Tournament Series. With the first-quarter JOAD Mail-In for 2012 now underway, it is clear there is hot competition among the country's JOAD teams, with several squads posting strong showings for Q4 in both individual and team events.
Notable finishes included a strong presence from Cincinnati Junior Olympians, the Ohio team headed in part by Jim and Liz Coombe, who also competed in the event. The team stacked the top three in the Male Junior Recurve category, with twin brothers Sean and Daniel McLaughlin taking first and second place respectively with 296 and 295, and teammate Sean Curtin posting a 281 for third.
The McLaughlins, together with Ian Coombe, winner of the Cub Male Recurve group with a strong 295, also posted the high team score for Male Recurve. Holley Ritchie of Crooked River Archers, and Connor Kelly and Mary Robbins of Archery Outpost Rebels were the winners of the Female Junior Recurve, Male Junior Compound and Female Junior Compound categories, respectively, posting 154, 295 and 279.
For the cadets, Josh Moskow of X-Caliber Archers was the high male recurve athlete with a 293; LaNola Pritchard of Venom JOAD shot a 286 to take the female title for the cadets. Top compound archers in this category were Greg Fink of Livingston Conservation and Sports Association with 294, and Harley Oakes of DATUS Nocks Offs for the women, also with 294.
The cub group, won by Coombe for the male recurve with 295, was won on the girls' recurve side by Premini Nagesh of Viking Archery JOAD with 259. The cub compound archers were led by Morgan Webb of Flint Bowmen in the Female Cub Compound group with 275; Kyle Preston, also of Flint Bowmen, took the boys' title with 296.
For the bowmen, Ryan Oliver of Newberry JOAD won the male recurve title, shooting a 275; Miranda Wright of Hall's Arrow shot a strong 280 to win the bowman girls' group. On the compound side, it was Lindsay Weatherspoon of DATUS Nocks Offs who shot a 281 to win her category, while Austin Fahey of Granite City JOAD won his group with 287.
Lonesome Road Archery and Cincinnati Junior Olympians dominated the senior categories, with Jim Coombe and Chelsea Obrebski taking the recurve honors for CJO, and Dave Woloszyn and Heather Szczech winning the compound titles.
