The State Archery Association of Massachusetts announced today that the 2011 Nor'easter, a USAT Qualifier Series Event, will take place from June 24-26, but at a new location. The Nor'easter, originally scheduled at Carver High School in Carver, Massachusetts, will now be held at Simcock Farm in Swansea, Massachusetts.
The event will open on June 24 with check-in, official practice and equipment inspection; a 144 arrow Qualification Round (FITA for recurve archers, 50m round for compound) will take place on June 25, followed by Elimination Round match play on June 26. The new location, approximately 35 minutes from Providence's T.F. Green Airport, and just over an hour from Logan Airport in Boston, boasts very close proximity to the beach as well as restaurants, shopping and other local attractions. Hotel information is expected to be announced soon.
"Unfortunately, the unusually hard winter in New England resulted in a longer school year for Carver," explains Katrina Weiss, National Events Manager for USA Archery. "Rather than changing the dates and creating a hardship for those who had already booked travel, SAAM chose to move the event location, and in doing so, found a great spot that is equally convenient to airports and amenities."
