COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - For fans and archers excited by last weekend's World Cup Final, there is more thrilling news: inaugurated just a few years ago, the Indoor Archery World Cup is a similar series of events hosted in the winter months, and YOU can be a part of the action. Read on to learn all you need to know.
Who Can Register?
Anyone can register for the Indoor Archery World Cups, and there is no limit to the number of archers than can register per country. While the events are self-funded and there is no team staff support, this is a great chance to compete against top competition on the international stage.
Where are the World Cup Stages?
The Indoor Archery World Cup is a great opportunity to travel the world and compete. The first stage is in Marrakesh, Morocco on November 21-22, 2015, followed by the second stage in Bangkok, Thailand on December 9-10, 2015 and the third stage in Nimes, France on January 15-17, 2016. Then, the fourth and final stage plus for athletes who qualify, the Indoor Archery World Cup Final, takes place right here in the U.S., January 29-31, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada in connection with the World Archery Festival.
How do I register?
Each stage has its own registration process detailed on the websites linked above. The Marrakesh event has a unique process. Archers interested in registering for Stage 1 in Marrakesh should contact National Teams Manager Audrey Tyrell at [email protected] for more information and details.
Why should I do it?
Crystal Gauvin, who won silver at the Final two years in a row shared: "Indoor World Cups are a great way for archers to gain experience on the International stage. I think they make a great first step for anyone looking to qualify for outdoor World Cups because they will get the opportunity to learn how to handle the travel and jet lag, all while shooting against some of the best in the world." 2012 Olympic Silver medalist Jake Kaminski agreed: "it's an excuse to go see parts of the rest of the world. It is also good for experience."
