USA Archery is continually working to cater to the needs and interests of our members. A large focus is on improving our events to meet the needs of participants. Following recommendations from USA Archery member feedback surveys, USA Archery staff brainstormed with the USAT organizers to refine the event schedules. We are trying several different, experimental formats for the 2018 USAT Qualifier Event Series and we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to find the best solutions. USA Archery is grateful for your continued input and feedback on these changes and we want to share some of the changes you will see this year.
To accommodate majority opinion, USAT events will offer separate junior elimination rounds instead of combining juniors with seniors. This decision meant that the schedule for USAT events had to be revised. Additionally, because of continued demand to participate in USAT events, changes to the schedule were made to create room for growth by reducing the overall field of play for each shooting line.
Beginning with the Arizona Cup, USA Archery has created a "split" format where all divisions of recurve women and compound men have their competition on Friday and Saturday morning, and the recurve men and compound women compete Saturday afternoon through Sunday. Those divisions compete on opposite days for the Gator Cup.
Another experimental format will be implemented for the SoCal Showdown. This format still incorporates the split qualification format on Saturday, but then, the divisions from the first qualification line shoot their first round of elimination matches Saturday evening, which should ease some congestion on Sunday.
We strongly encourage members who attend these events to share feedback when the member surveys are sent out after each event. We rely on hearing your opinions and your voice matters in USA Archery's decision making process. For more information on USA Archery's National Events, click here.
