125th U.S. National Target Championships wrap up and announcement of 2010 host

The 125 U.S. National Target Championships and U.S. Open took place August 3-8th in Hamilton, Ohio. The event attracted just over 400 participants and many more parents and friends.  The competition literally started with a bang, as the first day (long FITA distances) had to be cancelled due to an all-day lightening storm. The organizers and judges determined not to try to make up the missed distances, therefore, the results are based off one FITA and the short distances of a second.  There were many incredible scores shot during the competition, and the weather after the first day was nearly perfect.

USA Archery would like to thank the USOC and Comcast for their coverage of the U.S. Open event for the new Olympic Network set to launch following the Vancouver games this next year. We will provide more information regarding times for airing and website links for viewing as we acquire the information. For more information on the Olympic Network click here.

Thank you to Tournament Director, Steve Cornell and Darrell Pace and all the members of their crew, including the Cincinnati JOAD club, for a job well done.  The field looked amazing and the event was run on-time.

Special thanks go to all our judges working the event: Marty Swanson, Jane Johnson, Jim Coombe, Lance VanNatta, Jake Veit, Linda Cockrell, James Lamoin, Jerry Pylypchuk, Gary Yamaguchi, Rich Kochert, Brandon Aylward and Alex Cornell.

USA Archery would like to thank our USAA sponsors, Easton Foundation, Easton, Hoyt, TaxMasters, United and Nike for their support of USA Archery. We would also like to thank event sponsors and vendors Bass Pro Shops, Courtyard by Marriott, Costco, BCY Fibers, Proline Bowstrings, Archery House Crafts, Toxofil, Lancaster Archery Supply and the Cincinnati Jr. Olympians. A big thanks goes to the city of Hamilton and Butler County as the community really stepped up to help bring the event back to Ohio.

USA Archery is also pleased to announce, based on the successful event this year, the 126th U.S. National Target Championships will be back in Hamilton, OH with tentative dates of July 19-24, 2010 as not to conflict with the NFAA Nationals occurring the last week of July and the World Cup Stage 3 being held in Ogden, UT the first week of August.

Congratulations to all winners and we hope to see you back again next year.
