Certification for Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s archery program is provided through USA Archery. USA Archery offers Level 1 and Level 2 Instructor courses in a blended-learning format. Volunteers complete the knowledge portion of the course on the USA Archery website prior to completing the in-person skills session at a GSEM archery range on one of our camp properties.
Registration for USA Archery Level 1 or Level 2 The registration process for USA Archery Level 1 or Level 2 Instructor courses begins by registering for an in-person practical skills session in gsLearn. Registrants then pay for and complete the online portion of the Level 1 or Level 2 Instructor course on the USA Archery website. Detailed registration instructions for each course will be emailed to participants immediately after they register in gsLearn. Please contact Adult Education if you do not receive this email.
To successfully complete the requirements for USA Archery Instructor, volunteers must:
1. Register for an in-person practical skills session in gsLearn
2. Create a USA Archery account on the USA Archery website, then pay for and complete the USA Archery Instructor Certification online course and exam
3. Go to the USA Archery website and register for the in-person skills session after passing the online exam. This will be the same session you registered for in gsLearn
4. Complete the in-person skills session held at one of our camp properties
The USA Archery Level 2 Instructor certification online course provides participants the necessary tools to serve as the lead instructor for long-term archery programs such as Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD), Adult Archery and Collegiate Archery Program clubs, and the Explore Archery Program. To complete the requirements for this certification, students must successfully pass the USA Archery Level 2 Instructor certification online course, including the online exam, and register for and complete the Level 2 Instructor in-person skills session.
The USA Archery Level 2 Instructor certification online course includes the USA Archery Level 1 Instructor online certification course information and provides students with an introduction to the National Training System (NTS) Steps of Shooting for recurve and compound bows, equipment and accessory setup, athlete development and events.
In addition to passing the course, instructors must have current U.S. Center for SafeSport training, current USA Archery Background Screening, and a current USA Archery or National Field Archery Association membership.
USA Archery Level 1 Instructor certification is NOT a prerequisite for this course.
Girls 18 years and older are welcome to participate. This USA Archery certification is valid for three years and is renewable online through USA Archery via the new USA Archery Level 2 Renewal course in gsLearn.
USA Archery Level 2 Instructor certification is required to become a USA Archery instructor trainer for our council. Instructors who complete this certification plus the USA Archery Instructor Trainer online course may facilitate USA Archery Level 1 Instructor courses for GSEM volunteers.
