USA Archery came together with 20 other National Governing Bodies, for Giving Games: a two-week effort to support and sustain U.S. sports federations and their athletes on their journey to Tokyo in 2021. Giving Games, held during the time we would have been in Tokyo for competition this summer, saw athletes and supporters rally together in many forms of strength and support, and USA Archery thanks everyone who played a part in making this a successful effort!
With the postponement of the Games, many U.S. sports and their athletes are facing extraordinary financial hardship and decision making, with NGBs facing a combined $100M+ deficit on our budgets before we even reach Tokyo next summer. Unlike most countries that receive government support, U.S. athletes rely heavily on the support of the community.
Giving Games activations included the Medal of Giving competition, a Buzzfeed quiz to find the sport that best matches your personality, and setting a World Record for the most donations given in a 24-hour period.
Nearly 100 individual supporters also gave very generously to USA Archery directly during the campaign and USA Archery thanks everyone who made gifts – every donation helps. Our top three donors will also receive beautiful, unique gold, silver and bronze Medals of Giving in appreciation of their support and in celebration of their competitive spirits!
Thanks to generous support of many donors, we set a new world record and all donors will be recognized with a certificate celebrating their participation. Donations made during the World Record attempt and to the Giving Games general fund will be shared equally among all participating NGBs, and that amount is still being calculated.
The fun of Giving Games will continue with a celebrity sweepstakes, so stay tuned for more information on that coming soon. Also, it is not too late to give and support USA Archery’s athletes. Make your gift today.
