Colorado Springs, CO - USA Archery Non-JOAD Clubs have elected Charles "Skip" Trafford to the USA Archery Board of Directors in special election balloting, which was due May 1. The term for the Grassroots, Non-JOAD Club Director will extend through 2013.
Trafford, of Shreveport, LA, is an accomplished and longtime archer who has also been involved, through his children, in the Junior Olympic Archery Development and Junior Dream Team programs.
Trafford and his wife continue to compete as adults on the local, national and international level; he has been part of eleven national teams and the 2009 World Games. "I have loved this sport from the time I was first introduced to archery through scouting on my way to Eagle through making the US Field Team that competed in Hungary in 2010," he explained in his Candidate Statement.
As a retired member of the military, Trafford's career spans 37 years as a foreign intelligence officer. Now the President of Global Operations for one of the country's largest steel foundries, Trafford runs manufacturing plants on several continents.
Notes Trafford: "What I can bring to the Board is a plethora of global experience - business, grassroots/upper echelon archery and military - at a time when interactive global experience/participation as well as competitor experience is essential to grow our organization. We have come so very far in USAA's growth the past several years, but we must plan and act to maintain our momentum."
"We were pleased to have Rodney Estrada and Skip Trafford as candidates for the Non-JOAD Club Directorship," comments Bob Pian, Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee. "Serving as a Director is a demanding volunteer position, and we ask that you join us in thanking the candidates for their willingness to serve and represent USA Archery."
