Ogden, Utah - The Ogden Archery World Cup Organizing Committee is conducting a nationwide search for an aspiring young journalist to become an Archery Fan Reporter during the third stage of the 2012 Archery World Cup this June. One lucky student will have a chance to gain real-world experience in media and sports as well as an opportunity to win an all-expense paid trip to Tokyo, Japan to report from the World Cup Finals this September.
The committee will select one reporter to join Alexia Martinez, one of last year's winning reporters, to cover the third and only North American stage, June 18-24. The Ogden stage also serves as the Final Olympic Qualification Tournament before the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Reporters will gain exclusive behind the scenes access to world champions to chronicle the international event with their final product will broadcast on World Archery's WebTV platform.
The Archery Fan Reporters selected will work with the W&W production team to create short (three to five minute) daily interviews regarding all aspects of the premier competition, both on and off the field. The reporter must be comfortable in front of the camera and oriented to media and/or journalism. Reporters will videotape, edit, embed music, write scripts and arrange interviews. Stories will broadcast internationally on FITA's WebTV platform.
Those interested may submit a three to five minute video and 300 to 500 word description communicating why they should become the next Archery Fan Reporter. Deadline submission is April 30, 2012 at midnight MST. Submissions may be emailed to [email protected]. Winners will be individually notified.
The position is open to journalism students between the ages of 16 to 30. They must be comfortable operating HD video cameras, computer technology and willing to develop a daily story. The Fan Reporter is a volunteer position. Reporters must be available June 17-25. The Ogden Archery World Cup Organizing Committee will provide room and board, but reporters must provide their own transportation to Ogden, Utah.
The Fan Reporters' work will be judged by the World Archery review panel for a chance to win an all-expense paid trip from World Archery to report at the 2012 World Cup Finals in Tokyo, Japan. Fan reporters from each stage of the competition will be considered to win the grand prize.
About the World Cup
After successfully hosting the USA World Cup in 2010 and 2011, Utah will once again welcome elite archers from many countries to the third stage of the Archery World Cup on June 18-14, 2012. The pivotal third stage will be contested at the Golden Spike Event Center with the finals held at the picturesque Lindquist Field in Ogden. The World Cup consists of three stages including Shanghai (CHN), Antalya (TUR) and Ogden, Utah (USA). The finals will commence on September 22-23, 2011 in Tokyo, Japan.
The 2012 Archery World Cup in Ogden is made possible by partnerships between the World Archery, Easton Sports Development Foundation, USA Archery, the Ogden/Weber Convention and Visitors Bureau and Utah Sports Commission.
