COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 131st U.S. National Target Championships, U.S. Open and Easton JOAD Nationals will head to Decatur, Alabama next year - a community that has earned a reputation for providing winning facilities, experienced personnel and service that has brought prestigious events to the city.
The combined "Outdoor Nationals" tournament will take place July 1-5 at the Jack Allen Recreational Complex, which provides excellent fields and amenities with seating for up to 3,000 spectators. The Complex has earned praise from sporting enthusiasts as one of the top facilities of its kind in the country.
In a year packed with domestic and international events that kick off the "Road to Rio," event participants will note that the dates for the 2015 "Outdoor Nationals" have moved to earlier in July. This will help accommodate USA Archery's four USAT Qualifier Series Events, as well as four World Cups, three World Championships, a World Cup Final, the Pan Am Games and ParaPan American Games, Olympic Test Event, and multiple Team Trials events including the first leg of the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
The Jack Allen Recreational Complex is a 77-acre park that provides 30 acres of laser-graded and irrigated soccer and football fields. Events hosted by Decatur include the Bassmasters Open, the Spirit of America Golf Tournament, Stihl Outdoor Sports, NAIA Softball Championships and the FLW Fishing Tour. The Recreational Complex will be able to provide the additional field space currently needed for the Outdoor Nationals events, which have experienced significant growth in recent years.
"We're excited about our move to Decatur," explained USA Archery CEO Denise Parker. "USA Archery is receiving an outstanding, warm welcome from the local community, and we are very excited about the growth potential that the Jack Allen Recreational Complex offers for the National Target Championships, U.S. Open and Easton JOAD Nationals. We hope that everyone will come out to enjoy true Southern hospitality and celebrate Independence Day with their archery friends and family."
"The Decatur Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Decatur Parks and Recreation Department will work hard to ensure a championship experience for all participants in the 2015 USA Archery Outdoor Nationals," commented Melinda Dunn of the Decatur Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Working with the City of Decatur and the Decatur Convention and Visitors Bureau, our combined staff will make every effort to extend southern hospitality and gracious service to our guests. Excellence in facilities, support staff and working relationships with event organizers is the goal for each and every event hosted here."
Called "A Grand City on a Charming Scale," Decatur is nestled alongside the Tennessee River, and has significant recreational opportunities for guests to the area, including boating, water skiing, and fishing. Point Mallard Park features 750 acres, with an aquatic center, golf course, indoor ice rink, hiking and bicycling trails by the river, as well as a campground. The U.S. Space and Rocket Center is also located in nearby Huntsvile.
USA Archery has worked with the Decatur Convention and
Visitors Bureau to open hotel blocks for the 2015 Outdoor Nationals event
beginning today. Information on the 2015 event, including hotels, travel and
recreational information will be available shortly on this website. Participants at the 2014
Outdoor Nationals are also encouraged to stop by the Decatur Convention and
