2009 USA Archery World Championship team member Kristin Braun (Palos Verdes, Calif.) is slated to appear on the NBC's Jay Leno Show on Thursday, Nov. 5. Braun, a U.S. Olympic Training Center resident athlete in Chula Vista, Calif., will travel to Los Angeles on Thursday to tape her piece.
"I've been told that I'm doing a segment with Wanda Sykes where she will be seated behind Plexiglas and I will be shooting suction-cup arrows at her to make Wanda flinch," said Braun. "By tomorrow it could be a completely different set up."
Make sure to check your local listings for time and the flinching moment. Braun is busy packing equipment and wardrobe for this special appearance. Also set to appear on the Jay Leno Show is Rachel Ray.
"I think it's a great opportunity to get archery out there and to modernize the sport," said Braun. "Archery can be done by anyone and it is fun. It is not a backwoods sport. There is a great audience out there and people just need to be exposed to it."
Braun started competing in archery competitions when she was 12 years old in California and still holds numerous state records. The 19-year-old is currently training in hopes of making the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team that will compete in London. Braun, who competed in her second major international event in September, helped Team USA to a 9th-place finish at the 2009 World Archery Target Championships in Korea. She also competed on the 2009 World Cup team that finished 10th in Croatia in May.
