USA Archery is proud to announce the schedule for the 2011 U.S. Archery Team (USAT) Qualifier Series, which includes six competitions in addition to U.S. National Target Championships and Easton JOAD Nationals, which are required events for the USAT and Jr. USAT teams respectively, and the 42nd U.S. National Indoor Championship, which is a Junior USAT qualifying event.
The USAT Qualifier Series is open to USA Archery members in both recurve and compound classes, specifically those athletes who will compete as Cadets, Juniors and Seniors. The USAT Qualifier Series also serves as the main avenue through which archers acquire a USAA National Ranking and qualify to represent the U.S. in FITA's World Cup Series.
Due to the busy summer schedule, USA Archery has also combined many team trials competitions with awarded USAT events. "Combining team trials events with existing USAT Qualifier Events just seems to make sense," said Denise Parker, CEO, USA Archery. "It not only helps promote our USAT Qualifier Series, it also allows the archer to save money and time in terms of competing at one event that serves multiple purposes."
The USAT outdoor events will kick off with two events in April. Leading the way will be the Arizona Archery Enterprises Arizona Cup in Phoenix, Ariz., scheduled for April 7-10. Two weeks later, the series will move to Newberry, Fla., for the Easton Foundations Gator Cup that will be held at the state-of-the-art Easton Newberry Sports Complex, from April 21-23.
The Gator Cup will also serve as the first stage of the 2011 World Archery Championships Team Trials event, which will select the U.S. Team that will compete at the 2011 World Archery Championships that are set for July 3-10 in Torino, Italy. The Gold Cup, set for May 19 - 21 in Bloomfield, N.J., will close out the first half of the season, as well as hosting the second and final stage of the World Target Championship Team Trials.
The remaining events will pick up over the course of the next four months. In June, the USAT Qualifier Series will head north up the Atlantic coast for the Nor'Easter in Carver, Mass., on June 23-26. Youth archers from across the country will then head to the 2011 Easton JOAD National Championships, scheduled for July 7-10 in Sacramento, Calif., with the 2011 USA Archery Youth World Championship Team Trials immediately following on July 11th. The Easton JOAD National Championships will be a mandatory qualifying event for selection to the Jr. USAT. For more information regarding Easton JOAD Nationals, please click here.
Later in July, USA Archery and the National Field Archery Association will team up to host the World Outdoor Archery Festival at the Easton Sports Development Archery Center in Yankton, SD, which will combine the USA Archery National FITA Field Championship, NFAA National Field Championship, the U.S. National Target Championship, and the Hoyt World Open.
The 2011 U.S. National Target Championship, a mandatory qualifying event for selection to the Senior USAT, is scheduled for July 27-30. The selection event for the 2011 Pan American Games Team will also take place at the U.S. National Target Championship on the 31st.
The 2011 USAT Qualifier Series will then continue with the So Cal Showdown on Aug. 11-13, in Chula Vista, Calif., home of one of the Olympic Training Centers and the USA Archery Resident Athlete program. The SoCal Showdown will also host the First Nomination Shoot for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, over August 14-15. The USAT Qualifier Series will conclude for 2011 with the Texas Shootout on Sept. 29 - Oct. 1 in College Station, Texas.
