COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - Butler County Visitors Bureau, the City of Hamilton and USA Archery reached an agreement to move the 125th US National Target Championships from Colorado Springs, Colorado to Hamilton, Ohio for 2009.
"With all the changes in staffing this year, we knew we had to have the Nationals in a location where we had a good, strong team. The City of Hamilton, Butler County Visitors Bureau and the Cincinnati Junior Olympians Club stepped up to provide us with plenty of support," says Denise Parker, USAA Acting CEO. "The added benefit is that we will be in a proven location for maximizing participation. We have always done well when the Nationals are held in Ohio and in a year where the economy is weak, it will be good to be within driving distance of many of our members. The City of Hamilton is within a day's drive from 65% of the nation's population and is an ideal location to celebrate such a historic event for USA Archery."
The dates of the event will remain August 3-8, 2009. The competition will be held at Joyce Park, a 313 acre venue which will provide for a wonderful and spacious event. "The City of Hamilton is very excited to welcome the athletes and families from around the United States that are participating in the USA Archery Championships" says Robert Harris, Hamilton Parks and Recreation Director. "We believe that Joyce Park is one of the premier parks in this area, if not in the State of Ohio. The city staff and its residents will make everyone feel right at home during their week stay while participating in the USA Archery Championships. We wish all the athletes the best of luck and hope everyone enjoys their stay in the City of Hamilton."
Event registration and hotel information will be forthcoming over the next few months.
