DUBLIN, Ohio – The 2019 U.S. National Outdoor Collegiate Championships and World University Games – U.S. Team Trials hosted over 500 archers from 60 schools across the nation. The competition was both fierce and filled with fun, team spirit and school pride.
Archers shot 144 arrows of qualification, and team, mixed team and individual elimination matches. The team round competitions were again a crowd favorite with loud cheering, countless fist bumps, high fives and even some creative costumes.
A welcome social on official practice day greeted student athletes, coaches and supporters with a barbeque, archery tag and other fun activities, and the event culminated with a special awards banquet last night.
Among the honors celebrated were top finishers in each event of the competition, All-American accolades, All-Around Archer of the Year awards, Collegiate National Coach of the Year recognition, and the highly coveted National Team Championship Award.
Texas A&M continues to make history, winning their 21st National Team Champion award after dominating the competition all weekend. Union College took an impressive second place finish, especially considering they only competed in two of the four divisions. University of the Cumberlands finished third overall following an outstanding showing.
Mount Marty College’s Coach Josahan Jamie-Sambrano was named the Collegiate Coach of the Year for her dedicated efforts to grow the sport of archery at the college level.
The All-American team is an honor presented to archers for top performances at the U.S. National Indoor and Outdoor Collegiate Championships in the same academic calendar year. These archers are eligible for special sponsor discounts from USA Archery’s partners.
USA Archery’s Collegiate All-Around Archer of the Year Award recognizes outstanding performances at U.S. National 3D Collegiate Championships, U.S. National Indoor Championships, and U.S. National Outdoor Collegiate Championships within the same academic calendar year.
