USA Archery Announces Updates to Team Selection Procedures and Event Schedules

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – As we gear up for the upcoming outdoor season, there are several important changes to USA Archery selection and qualification procedures, policies and event schedules. USA Archery’s Board of Directors has approved updates to a several international team and USAT  selection procedures for 2021 to comply with evolving COVID-19 protocols and their direct impact on athlete participation, and to maximize athlete opportunities to compete in trials events.

See updated selection procedures for the following international teams:

• 2021 Junior Pan American Games - U.S. Team Trials (note: Trials moved to the 2021 USA Archery JOAD Nationals in conjunction with the 2021 World Archery Youth Championships – U.S. Team Trials)
• 2021 World Archery Championships, Recurve
• 2021 World Archery Championships, Compound
• 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials – Archery

United States Archery Team (USAT) qualification procedures updates include:

• United States Archery Team Qualification Procedures (note: update includes revision to required events in 2021 for Junior, Cadet, Barebow and Master USAT)
• National Ranking System (NRS) 101 (note: update includes new provisions for missing a USAT event due to attending approved international events and/or related quota events)

The Board also approved changes to the following USA Archery Policies:

• USA Archery Code of Conduct
• Policy for Missing a Required USAT Event

In addition, the following trials events have schedule changes for 2021:

• 2021 World Archery Championships- Compound - U.S. Trials
• 2021 Junior Pan American Games – U.S. Trials
• *2020 U.S. Olympic Trials – Archery, Stages 3&4
• *2020 U.S. Paralympic Trials – Archery, all stages

Several Para USAT events will be held on new dates:

• Arizona Cup – Para USAT: April 11-12
• Gator Cup – Para USAT: May 2
• SoCal Showdown – Para USAT: June 3

*Please note, both the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Trials will have additional COVID-19 mitigation protocols in place that will require athletes to arrive at the event location 72 hours prior to the athletes’ first day of competition. USA Archery will communicate with trials participants directly regarding new COVID-19 mitigation plans and other requirements.
