COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – USA Archery has recently posted updates to several national and international team selection procedures and high performance programs for 2023.
The United States Archery Team (USAT), established in 1982, consists of the top ranked archers in the country. Archers earn national ranking points at USAT Qualifier Series Events and at Indoor and Outdoor U.S. and JOAD Target National events. For archers with aspirations to represent the U.S. at the Olympic, Paralympic and World Championship levels, USAT ranking helps archers track and measure their skill set and progress in competition at the national level and motivates archers to grow and improve to attain their goals.
In addition, USAT archers earn highly coveted uniforms and may also be eligible for high performance programs, athlete stipends, support programs or sponsor benefits. New for 2023, USA Archery will offer opportunities for visually impaired athletes to vie for a spot on USAT. This initiative stems from our efforts to develop a para high-performance pipeline for visually impaired athletes classified as V1 or V2/V3.
Qualification procedures for all 2023 USAT teams are approved and now available in USA Archery’s Resource Center. Notably, the recurve men and women and compound senior men’s National Ranking System has been updated to remove the single-arrow average component during medal matches and those vying for Barebow USAT will be required to attend one additional USAT event in 2023. The Para National Ranking System was updated to remove International Success Points. Furthermore, updates were made to the additional criteria necessary to make Para USAT by providing expanded options to meet the required Minimum Qualifying score, finishing in the Top 10 of the Para World Rankings and/or medaling at a future Para World Championship or delegation events.
Selection procedures for the 2023 World 3D Championships and 2023 Outdoor World Cup and Other International Events have also been finalized and are available in the Resource Center. U.S. Team Trials information is also published for known dates.
