Colorado Wraps 2022 Outdoor Season

LITTLETON, Col. – The 2022 USA Archery Colorado State Outdoor Championship was hosted last month at Titan Sports Park near Roxborough Park, Colorado. Eighty archers were treated to clear skies, Front Range views, and a steady, although shifting wind for the 72-arrow qualifying event.

Para USAT athletes Kevin Mather and Eric Bennett took advantage of the event to practice and make final preparations for the upcoming Para Pan Am Championships to be held in Santiago, Chile in November.

“Even though I am teaching full time, I was able to find a quick flight up to Denver to squeeze in another tournament leading up to Para Pan Am,” shared Bennett. “My final outdoor event before Chile will be the Arizona State Outdoor in October.”

Other notables on the field of play included 2022 Youth & Masters Pan Am Barebow Champions Daniel Weiss and Ruth Delzell, among 28 total barebow division athletes. Competition was hot in the barebow women’s division, where Kay Earls closed with a sharp 280 to fend off Kelly Scott and Julie Yacca with only a 9-point spread between the three. Matt Yacca produced the strongest score with a 628 in the 8-deep Barebow Senior Men’s division. Matt most recently represented USA Archery in the World Archery Field Championships and will be heading to the Pan Am Championships as a barebow athlete.

Colorado wrapped its competition schedule for the year with a State Field Championship, before heading indoors for the annual JOAD Rotational Series. Full results for the 2022 USA Archery Colorado State Outdoor Championship can be found on betweenends.com.
