FOLEY, Alabama – The Archery Shooters Association hosted the 2020 USA Archery Collegiate 3D Nationals at the Graham Creek Interpretive Center this weekend. An annual favorite event welcomed archers from 16 schools for a weekend of great competition.
Recurve, compound, barebow and bowhunter archers were able to compete in individual, team and mixed team events with safety precautions in place to adhere to local and state public health guidelines.
Johnnie Stinson, head coach at William Carey University, shared his students’ enthusiasm for the ability to compete at this weekend’s event: “We look forward to this event every year; as soon as school starts, we work up to this event and the archers are always really excited. You make so many friends in archery and it’s great to be able to see everyone here.”
Liberty University head coach Ben Summers agreed: “It’s been amazing for all of our athletes and our school has been extremely supportive. It’s a really big deal for us and we don’t take it lightly that we’re able to be here.”
The University of the Cumberlands topped the competition, bringing home the overall team gold. Lindsay Wilson College finished with silver and Emmanuel College won bronze.
Emmanuel College archer Rachel Reshonsky took gold for the recurve women’s individual competition for the third time, in addition to winning gold for the team and mixed team event. Reshonsky shared on social media: “I came to Collegiate 3D Nationals with a goal to shoot even (400). I am so happy and proud to say I shot 17 up making my score a 417 (203/214). I had the top Olympic Recurve score including the men’s division. I cannot express how proud I am of myself. I ended yesterday and worked my way to first and never let it get to my head.”
