COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - One of the many benefits of leading a Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD), Collegiate Archery Program or Adult Archery Program club is being able to participate in the USA Archery Achievement Award Program. The Achievement program is designed to motivate and challenge archers to develop their archery skills through different scoring levels at their own pace.
JOAD, Collegiate and Adult Archers can earn advanced levels of recognition with Olympian awards and Bronze, Silver and Gold pins that signify high levels of achievement through continued hard work and dedication to the sport of archery.
Archers can earn Achievement Award pins at USA Archery Sanctioned Events or their local club pin shoots. Pins can be earned indoors or outdoors in barebow, basic compound, bowhunter, recurve and compound divisions.
Lancaster Archery Academy Coach Heather Pfeil shared some of her students' recent thoughts on the Achievement Award Program:
"I love receiving new pins, what is exciting the most, is when my coaches call my name to receive the pin and everyone applaudes." - Sabrina Sison
"They motivate me to shoot consistently and to shoot the best I can!" - Casey Kaufhold
"I love the achievement pins because it encourages the JOAD kids to try, it sets goals for us instead of just having us shooting for fun all the time! It motivates me because everyone always says if you have your Olympian Pins you're one of the best of the best and that's what I practice for!" - Amanda Newland
"I love the achievement pins because they make me feel very accomplished, especially the Olympian Pins. I love getting the gifts with the pins and everyone can know that I worked hard for what I have accomplished. The pins help motivate me because, if I don't have a form goal they are a very easy score goal for me to set. If I don't have a goal set, I will not know what to do next, and shooting would not be exciting. If I try to shoot for a pin, like the Silver Pin, I have to achieve a 290. If I get that score in a competition there is a great possibility that I will also get an award. Even if I don't receive an award, I got my score and it was still a positive outcome!" - Sara Sherman
"I love to show my pins off, I work hard and I am proud of them, and they motivate me to do better." - Nick Barbato
