DECATUR, Alabama – The 2020 USA Archery JOAD Target Nationals returns to Decatur this July 15-19! Registration is now open and it’s time to plan the big family trip to cheer your archers on to fun and success this summer.
Archers and families will be welcomed to a “Kick Off” at Ingalls Harbor Pavilion for Opening Ceremonies, gourmet popsicles and for purchase dinner from local award-winning favorite B-B-Que Bob’s.
Competition will feature an official practice day, followed by 144 arrows of qualification, split over two days, and then head to head individual elimination matches and a fun, optional team round competition.
The 2020 event features a single-line shooting format for qualifications. In a typical USA Archery event, 3-4 archers are assigned to a target for double-line shooting (AB-CD). In single-line format, no more than 3 archers will be assigned to a target and all will shoot at the same time (A-B-C).
There will still be 2 sessions each day for qualifications and eliminations, but this format will decrease the time each session takes, meaning archers will finish shooting before the hottest part of the day with time for fun at some of Decatur’s greatest attractions and restaurants.
The U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Point Mallard Water Park and the McWane Science Center will have special discounts for event participants. More local discounts and details will be available closer to the event.
USA Archery and Decatur Morgan County Tourism have created a one-stop shop hotel booking portal to help you plan your trip. Find a hotel.
