NEWBERRY, Florida – With just over 100 days until the opening ceremonies of the postponed Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, the 2020 U.S. Paralympic Trials – Archery, Stages 1&2 are scheduled for this weekend, May 1-2 in Newberry, Florida.
With athlete health and safety at the core of USA Archery and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee’s priorities, Trials participants are required to abide by COVID-19 mitigation protocols as approved by the USOPC and medical health experts.
An athlete in the Compound Men’s Open division tested positive for COVID-19 on site, prior to the start of Trials, and another athlete in the same division was eliminated from participation this weekend through contact tracing.
Per the Event Viability & Contingency Plan, the Compound Men’s Open division will not be able to compete as scheduled this weekend and Stage 1&2 will be postponed. More information and dates will be available soon.
All other divisions will compete as scheduled this weekend.
Additionally, competition this weekend included the 2021 World Archery Championships – U.S. Team Trials and the 2021 Gator Cup USAT event. The Gator Cup will continue as scheduled for all divisions. The World Team Trials for the compound men’s open division will also be postponed to a later date.
