The USA Archery Nominating and Governance Committee completed the 2010 USA Archery Board of Directors election process, authorized candidates background checks, collected candidate statements and reviewed ballot preparation. The ballots and voting instructions have been sent Monday, Nov. 30, to all eligible USA Archery members and clubs that are on file.
If you do not receive a ballot in three days and meet the eligibility requirements, please contact USA Archery Office Manager Kim Bartkowski at (719) 866-4450 or [email protected]. Members that are unsure of their contact information should contact Bartkowski to verify their information and be sent a ballot if necessary.
To be eligible in the 2010 USA Archery Board of Directors election, you must be a member of USA Archery at least 60 days prior to the election and 18 years old on Oct. 19, 2009. In this election, only members who select "At-Large" or "Coach" membership category are entitled to vote.
Members may also choose the "Athlete" or "Judge" voting categories on the ballot, even though these Board of Directors positions are not open for election in 2009. However, please still return the ballot even if you choose athlete or judge so that we can update your profile and send you a ballot for the election of these candidates in 2011.
JOAD Clubs that are USA Archery members and held a membership prior to Oct. 19, 2009 will receive a single Grassroots Director "JOAD" voting ballot. USA Archery Collegiate Clubs, who have been registered at least 60 days prior to the election (Oct. 19, 2009), will receive a single Grassroots Director "Collegiate" voting ballot. The individual who sends in the ballot for the JOAD or Collegiate positions must be 18 years old.
All USA Archery Adult Clubs, who have been registered since Oct. 19, 2009, will receive a ballot for the "At-Large" position. Only one vote from each Adult Club will be counted, and the individual who submits this ballot must be 18 years old.
The ballot is formatted into two sections. The top half has the USA Archery membership information that is currently on file. Please review this information and correct any errors. Also, check only one of the categories in the Voting Designation box. The bottom half of the 2009 Election Ballot is where you will vote for your designated category.
Please check the individual you are voting for, sign and date each ballot. The ballot must be received by the U.S. Olympic Committee Audit Division by Friday, Dec. 18, 2009 to count. Any ballots that are received without the top portion of the ballot will not be counted. Your membership information is required to verify voting eligibility.
The U.S. Olympic Committee will keep all voting information confidential, and will cut the top half of the ballot off for USA Archery to update membership information and voting designation.
Ballots must be sent to the USOC Audit Division in the enclosed self-addressed envelope. Additionally, the USOC Audit Division will count and verify all votes against the USA Archery membership database and maintain voter anonymity.
The Nominating and Governance Committee has vetted a diverse group of qualified candidates for the 2010 USA Archery Board of Directors Election.
It is important for all eligible members to participate in this process. The Nominating and Governance Committee volunteered their time in reviewing the candidates and providing the necessary steps in the election.
"The importance of the USA Archery Board of Directors election is vital to the direction of the organization," said Denise Parker, CEO, USA Archery. "The election process enables all members to have a voice and input on USA Archery and each should exercise this right."
The Nominating and Governance Committee was comprised of Jennifer Comedy-Holmes (athlete representative); Dawn Chudy Altomonte (JOAD representative); James Ashton (judge representative); Scott Ulbrich (independent representative); and Bob Pian (chairperson).
"In advance, (The Nominating and Governance Committee) thank you for taking an active role in the ongoing success of USA Archery," said Pian. "The committee did its due diligence in vetting the candidates and providing top quality individuals to potentially serve the membership."
