CHULA VISTA, Calif. - USA Archery's Resident Athletes - those archers who live and train at the Olympic Training Center full-time - are undertaking a daunting task on November 22: shooting 1,000 arrows in a single day to raise money for Operation Rebound, a program of the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
Operation Rebound, according to their website, "is the premier sports and fitness program for American military personnel, veterans and first responders with permanent physical disabilities. It provides unparalleled opportunities to pursue active, athletic lifestyles by offering access to funding for equipment and training and competition expenses, Military Medical Center Physical Training (MMCPT) and sports clinics."
An average practice for a nationally competitive archer can range from 250 to over 400 arrows per day, depending on their training plan and level of fitness. The 1,000 Arrow Challenge encourages participating archers to grow as athletes while contributing to a worthy cause, which is selected by the athletes themselves.
Those who would like to make a donation online and contribute to Operation Rebound on behalf of the 1,000 Arrow Challenge can do so through the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). Click here to visit their donation page.
