The USA Archery Indoor Nationals and the USA JOAD Indoor Nationals are two separate events contested on the same weekend at different sites throughout the U.S.

CHOOSE A LOCATION:  

Participants may compete at any of the locations for this event noted on the USA Archery website.  An archer is considered a participant after one arrow is shot.  You may only compete once in each the 56th USA Archery Indoor Nationals and 2025 JOAD Indoor Nationals.

ARRIVAL:

For all shooting times, please arrive at least one hour in advance for equipment inspection on the first day of competition.

RESULTS:

Results will be hosted online at betweenends.com.  Combined results for both Indoor Nationals and JOAD Indoor Nationals will be updated during competition.

COACHES DURING PRACTICE AND COMPETITION:

Personal coaches are restricted to the spectator area at all times.

PARA ARCHERS:

Archers who wish to shoot in the Para divisions must have at least a National Classification card. In order to establish records, archers must have an International Classification card.

AGENTS:

Credentialed persons assisting Para-archers or the tournament officials may sit in the archers’ area.

PHOTOGRAPHERS:

Photographers will be credentialed by the Host Venue and are bound by the USA Archery media policy. Please send questions and/or credentialing requests to [email protected]. NO flash photography – PLEASE!

DRUG TESTING:

Any archer may be subject to unannounced drug testing. Refusal to test may lead to disqualification.

Collegiate archers are not required to dress in matching uniforms. 

OFFICIAL PRACTICE:

Official practice will be no less than two ends and no more than four ends.

EVENTS WITH MULTIPLE SHOOTING TIMES:

All sites of indoor competitions offer multiple shooting times, and each will adhere to the same format: a double shooting line with A/B and C/D lines.

Shooting times are assigned on a “first come, first served” basis. Please plan accordingly and it is recommended to register early. 

COMPLETE REGISTRATION FORMS AND PAYMENT:

Online registration through the USA Archery Event Registration Platform will be standard for all locations.

Please note that the USA Archery Indoor Nationals and JOAD Indoor Nationals require separate registration submissions and payments. An archer will not be considered a registered participant unless the registration, waiver, and payment have been received.

AWARDS:

National awards will be mailed from the USA Archery national office after final results from all locations are verified and combined.

College Jr. and College Sr. participants are merged and included in results with the same bow-type Jr. and Sr. divisions. Location awards may be given at the discretion of the Event Director.

CONFIRMATION:

A confirmed entry is automatically listed in the “Entry List”. Find your event following these steps: 

  1. Visit usarchery.org.
  2. From the top row of menu items, select “Events”.
  3. From the dropdown list, select “Find an Event”.
  4. Search by name of the event and click “Find Out More”.
  5. Scroll down to “Entry List” and click “View”.
  6. If your name and division are not listed, contact the Event Organizer.

Be sure to review your registration confirmation for accuracy. Once scoring has started, your Division and Age Class may not be changed.

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY – MICA PARTICIPATION:

Your first 60 arrow score from the USA Archery Indoor Nationals will be sent to World Archery Americas for inclusion in a Mail-In Tournament.

TRADITIONAL and LONGBOW EQUIPMENT RULES For 56th USA Archery Indoor Nationals:

As of 2024:  Refer to World Archery Rules Book 4 for these divisions. 

TARGET FACES:

Archers who have a choice of target face styles must use the same style for the entire tournament.

  • Archers will start with a new target face at the commencement of practice ends and are not required to change targets at the commencement of scoring.
  • Compound Senior, U21 and U18 archers will change target faces after 5 scoring ends, or sooner as determined by a judge.
  • Recurve/Barebow archers will change target faces after ten scoring ends, or sooner as determined by a judge.
  • Judges have the discretion to change target faces at any time.
  • Fixed Pins archers will shoot a Recurve target face.

ENTERING MORE THAN ONE DIVISION:

An archer may compete in more than one division (i.e. Compound or Recurve) but may not compete in more than one age class (i.e. U21 or U18). Separate fees and a separate registration are required for each category (i.e. Recurve U18 Men or Compound U18 Men) in which an archer intends to shoot. The archer must shoot an additional double round for each entry. You must contact the event organizer for your desired location if you wish to shoot in multiple divisions.  Exception:  Archers competing in Collegiate categories shall compete in only one division.

National Indoor Championship Eligibility

MEMBERSHIP:

All eligible athletes shall be a member of USA Archery for the duration of the event.  Recreational and Temporary memberships are not eligible for National Event participation.

CITIZENSHIP:

Competitors shall be eligible to compete according to the following:

  • To be eligible to compete for a USA Archery National title or receive National ranking points, an athlete shall have a valid U.S. passport or National Eligibility on file with USAA.
  • If an athlete wants to compete for a USA Archery National title, but does not hold a valid U.S. passport, he shall have resided in the U.S. for at least one year before the date of the competition and shall have a letter of release from the country of their passport and shall not have competed for the country of their passport for 12 months prior.
  • An athlete who has changed their nationality, or acquired a new nationality, will need to notify USA Archery and World Archery of the change before they compete. They may not represent the National Team of their new nationality until one year after such a change or acquisition.
  • An athlete who has a valid passport of two or more countries at the same time may represent either of them, as he chooses. He shall, however, meet the conditions in paragraphs 1 through 3 above.

Athletes who do not meet the criteria above will compete in Guest divisions for their appropriate age and bow type. There is no Guest division for JOAD Indoor Nationals.

FORMAT FOR U.S. NATIONAL INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS:

  • Recurve/Barebow/Longbow/Traditional Recurve
  • Two rounds of 60 arrows each (120 total) at a 40cm target face
  • Choice of single spot or vertical/triangle 3-spot (whichever is offered at the location where registered) from 18 meters with outer ten-ring scoring.
  • Compound
  • Two rounds of 60 arrows each (120 total) at a 40cm target face
  • Choice of single spot or vertical/triangle 3-spot (whichever is offered at the location where registered) from 18 meters with inner ten-ring scoring.
  • Fixed Pins
  • Two rounds of 60 arrows each (120 total) at a 40cm target face
  • Choice of single spot or vertical/triangle 3-spot (whichever is offered at the location where registered) from 18 meters with outer ten-ring scoring.

COLLEGE:

Collegiate archers shall be individual members of USA Archery and have current collegiate eligibility with USA Archery.  More info on Collegiate Eligibility here:

Collegiate archers’ registration may be substituted for a teammate from the same school when the substitution is requested prior to the deadline for registration.

 

FORMAT FOR JOAD INDOOR NATIONALS:

Recurve/Barebow – One round of 60 arrows; 18 meters

  • U21 and U18- 40cm target face (choice of single-spot, vertical, or triangle 3-spot face depending on option available at venue)
  • Must use same choice for entire tournament; outer 10-ring scoring.
  • U15 and U13 – 60cm target face; outer 10 ring scoring
  • No target choice.

Compound – One round of 60 arrows; 18 meters

  • All age classes- 40cm target face (choice of single-spot, vertical, or triangle 3-spot face depending on option available at venue)
  • Must use same choice for entire round; inner 10-ring scoring.

Fixed Pins – One round of 60 arrows; 18 meters

  • All age classes- 40cm RECURVE target face (choice of single-spot, vertical, or triangle 3-spot face depending on option available at venue)
  • Must use the same choice for entire tournament; outer 10-ring scoring.

The USA Archery Indoor Nationals Final is an event that invites the top eight archers, regardless of age, merged from each Indoor Nationals location in the following categories:  Recurve Men * Recurve Women * Compound Men * Compound Women * Barebow Men * Barebow Women* to compete in a head-to-head shoot off.  With prize money for every participant!

Each person that participates in the Indoor Nationals and shoots a recurve, compound, or barebow as a U.S. Citizen is eligible to make the top eight.
