USA Archery Level 2 Instructor Practical

  

USA Archery Level 2 Instructor Certification Practical Course is an in-person course.  It is only taken after successfully completing the USA Archery Online Level 2 Instructor Training.

The USA Archery Instructor Practical is designed to enable the Level 2 Instructor candidate to demonstrate those archery skills required to be a Certified Level 1 and Level 2 Instructor.  Candidates will be required to demonstrate:

 

Level 1 Skills

·     -     Practical application of Range Rules and Safety Rules (indoors and outdoors)

·     -     Ability to safely shoot a bow and arrow, and explain the parts of a bow and

            arrow

·     -     Capable of introducing archery to beginning participants and teach the basic

            archery skills

-     -     Ability to give in direct / direct feedback and other methods that encourage archery

            development

      -     Demonstrate the ability of outfitting an archery class

Level 2 Skills

·      -     Ability to outfit an archer with equipment and accessories

·      -     Demonstrate and explain the National Training System Steps of Shooting for recurve and compound

·      -     Ability to instruct archery, to participants that want to increase their skills and instruct participants that want, to compete at a local or state level

·      -     Knowledge of equipment, setup, accessories and how to make basic repairs to bows and arrows

 -     Ability to give indirect feedback, direct feedback, explanation, demonstration and physical adjustment and encourage archery development

 -     Capable of using verbal and written coaching techniques, to identify form issues

 -     Capable of using advanced coaching techniques and establishing lesson plans, that may be applied to an archery program

 -     Capable to demonstrate and coach archery skills, to an individual or a group

 

Pre-registration is a requirement, and no one will be admitted, to the course two days prior to the courses start date.



Please bring you own equipment, a pen / pencil and a pad.  If you do not have access to archery equipment, please inform the practical instructor and equipment may be made available.



Course Cost:  $50.00 (The fee is DUE DAY OF CLASS).  $0.00 for Managers of the Chicago Park District (CPD).  Please bring, cash, check (made to the Chicago Archery Club or Zelle (1 (773) 813 - 4855)).

 

Course Date:  Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 3 pm to 6 pm; Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 3 pm to 6 pm; Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 10 am to 2 pm; (Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 3 pm to 6 pm upon request only); Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 10 am to 2 pm; (Thursday, April 10, from 3 pm to 6 pm upon request only; and Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 10 am to 2 pm upon request).

-     The candidate instructors must select two dates (either two Thursdays, two Saturdays or a Thursday and a Saturday) for the course and then contact Basil Rhymes at [email protected] / 1 (773) 813 - 4855.


Course Time:  Thursdays, 3 pm until about 6 pm and/or Saturdays, 10 am until about 2 pm (The course last approximately 8 hours, over two days but will vary based upon the number of participants.)

Course Location:  The Chicago Archery Club's indoor range located in Hamilton Park (CPD).

-     It is located in the basement of the Hamilton Park Fieldhouse, Chicago, Illinois 60621:  513 West 72nd Street / W. 72nd Street and in S. Normal Avenue.

-     Enter the right or left entrance way, into the park and drive south to the parking lot.  Park your vehicle and enter the fieldhouse.  Greet the park's attendants.

      Afterwards, go down the stairs to the left / right of the park's main office.  Wait outside the second set of double doors, to gain entrance to the range.

      Sign the practice registration sheet and ask for Basil Rhymes.

-     Participants should also send an e-mail to [email protected].  The email should state which days and dates you are attending the Level 2 Instructor Practical.

     Please provide your name and any other relevant contact information, in case the class is postponed or cancelled.

   

Certification Period: Three years from the date of course completion

 

All Course participants must bring their archery equipment and a lunch for the day of the course, if desired.  Light refreshments may be available.

   

USA Archery Level 1 Instructor Certification is not a prerequisite for this course.

In addition to meeting the necessary course requirements, the following requirements must be completed before a certificate of completion will be issued:

 

1. Each student is required to successfully complete a USA Archery background screen. A USA Archery background screen is good for 2 years from date of completion.

 To apply for a background screen, please visit https://usarchery.sport80.com/login . USA Archery will be notified of the results and will update the instructor record accordingly.

 

2. Each student is required to obtain a membership to USA Archery or the National Field Archery Association. Please note, a USA Archery Promotional, Temporary, Recreational

3. Each student is required to successfully complete the FREE U.S. Center for SafeSport training course annually. The U.S. Center for SafeSport training online course

 is for individuals USA Archery formally authorizes or appoints to (a) serve in a position of authority over, or (b) have frequent contact with athletes. This shall include,

 but not be limited to volunteers, instructors, coaches, judges, board members, trainers, medical personnel, USA Archery Club and State Association leaders, and other

After becoming a member of the USA Archery / You must complete any SafeSport requirement by seeing the latest information at the USA Archery or by:

Signing into your membership.

Select “Access Core Training”.

Select "Access (Additional) Training," as applicable.
