GCC Level 1 Instructor Practical

Your instructor will provide details for the online portion prior to the class. 

Thank you for your interest in becoming a USA Archery Level 1 Certified Instructor. This certification will allow you to run Archery events and Archery merit badges for all ages of Scouting participants including Cub Scout Archery programs.

The Level 1 Archery Instructor Certification Course provides graduates the necessary tools to maintain a high-level of safety both on and off the archery range and ensure that minimum standards for archery instruction are consistently taught to provide for the safety and enjoyment of the participants, instructors, and spectators.

Level 1 Instructors are well prepared to teach beginner archery programs including the Archery merit badge to people of all ages and abilities in a variety of both indoor and outdoor settings in the disciplines of target, field or 3-D archery. The Level 1 Instructor will learn about range safety, range setup, the steps of shooting, equipment and repair, programs, and lesson plans.

USA Archery (USAA) is the governing body that Scouting uses to certify our Archery instructors. USAA takes a blended approach to their training which consists of an Online portion and an in-person Practical portion.
Your instructor will provide details for registering for and taking the online portion prior to the class. As such, Registration MUST be submitted no later than 3 days before the practical course to allow time to complete the online session.

Supplies Required

• All attendees must bring a signed BSA Health Form Parts A & B. Participants under 18 must have a parent/guardian signature as well
• Bring your own Lunch/snacks, Water Bottle/drinks, No Lunch is provided.
• Pen/pencil/highlighter to take notes.

Do NOT bring any Bows or arrows. These will be provided as necessary. If you wish to bring your own for qualification shoots, you must contact the lead instructor ahead of time. Usage is subject to the discretion of the instructor(s).

The course is held at the Colorado Adventure Point at Hamilton Scout HQ. Please arrive at least 20 minutes early to sign in and receive course materials. Park on the west side of HQ and enter through the CAP doors and head up the stairs.

All the STARS Training is up to 50% off in 2024 with the JAMBO Combo Discount! The GCC is hosting a regional Colorado Jamboree at McNeil Scout ranch at Peaceful Valley on September 27-29, 2024. To be eligible for the 50% off JAMBO COMBO STARS Training Discount, Scouts are Trustworthy and must do ALL the following:

·       Commit to and actually help run the JAMBO STARS program on the ranges for a minimum of 1 full day.

·       If you do not help with the Colorado Jamboree ranges for any reason, you agree to pay back the training discounts.

·       You may sign up for multiple discounted STARS classes in 2024, even those after the Colorado Jamboree.

CANCELLATION POLICY

There is a firm no-refund policy, and the class will be held rain, shine or snow. Please check your calendar and plan ahead accordingly. If there is an emergency or you are sick and unable to attend, you can apply the fees toward another STARS Shooting Sports training class within one (1) year from the date of this course.
